VST instruments not working (LABS and BBCSO)

• Oct 2, 2024 - 10:06

My VST instruments started to suddenly bug out (This happens in Large orchestral scores like the one I have provided below) and when I play back the audio in MS4 there is no sound coming from the instrument in the application even when I click on the individual notes. I have to constantly restart the application and hope that the instrument comes back which it some times does. Reselecting the instrument and factory resetting ms4 did not help my predicament at all because I receive all my audio temporarily but then after I quit MuseScore I start having the same issue all over again (This isnt a problem with the plugin since it works perfectly in garageband). It seems something from the application has broken the vst plugin playback.

Moreover spitfire labs only shows up a blank screen on ms4(as you can see in the screenshot I provided). However it works perfectly in garageband. What exactly has happened? ever since I updated to the new spitfire labs it stopped working in muse core(but still works in garageband so I highly doubt its an issue on thier end)

Is there a fix to any of this? im on Mac M1Ventura 13.7

I would also like to shed some more light on my LABS issue. Yes I cant see the pop up that shows up on garageband, But when I enter in a note I actually do receive audio feedback from labs. I just cant change the sound because the popup is white

LABS is working fine on my Windows system with MuseScore. I also had issue after updating LABS. Think it was due to some changes in the software but keeping the same name.
It was also showing multiple entries for the LABS vat. I removed LABS and reinstalled and also removed the file in MuseScore which keeps track of the installed VSTs. After this LABS was working normal.

Not sure if the same approach used on Windows works on macOS as well but it is worth a try.

Check the location used for the "known_audio_plugins" file.
On windows this is in a localappdata folder.
On macOS, access the Diagnostics option in the menu and select System->Show paths.
One of the listed items is the known_audio_plugins item. This is a .json file.
Make sure MuseScore is closed and then delete that file.
After this start MuseScore and it should recheck the available audio plugins.

You might have a different issue though, please share the symptoms of your problem so further assistance can be provided.
