Splitting a piano part into string quartet parts

• Oct 7, 2024 - 00:36

Hi
I am attempting to arrangement a voice and piano piece for voice and string quartet. I can't find how to split the piano part into string parts easily (i've tried the explode tool - I'm not doing it right maybe?)

Add the string parts to your score. Then copy the notes of your piano part into the string parts. Finally, delete the piano part.
If my answer is not correct/sufficient, attach a sample score and explain exactly what you want to do.

The explode tool works as follows:
1)It explodes one and only one staff at the time.
1.1)If you select more then one staff and attempt to use the tool, it will explode the top one.
2)If there are two, three or four voices in the staff that you selected, those voices will be distributed over two, three or four staves. The first voice (the blue voice) will stay in its place. The second voice will be moved to the staff that is just below the one you are exploding. The orange voice will be moved to the second staff below...
2.1) If the place of destination empty, the voice that is sent there will assume the blue colour.
2.2) If the place of destination is not empty, the voice that is sent there will assume the green colour (or orange, or pink one).

3)If there is only one voice in the staff that you selected and it consists of chords or dyads, they all will be ripped apart and distributed over the staves that would have the misfortune of being located below it.

Create 4 empty staves between the right hand and the left hand of the piano and 4 staves below the left hand, and start exploding.
