Microtonal support

• Nov 20, 2024 - 06:15

I've been looking at Musescore support for microtonal tunings and broadly it seems "edit each note by hand or use a plugin" is the answer.

OK - but which plugin?

*MicroModulator appears to have vanished, and the issue tracker says it is deprecated/ no longer active post-Mar. 2024

*12/17/19 EDO hasn't vanished, and claims to be 4.x compatible, but when installed it's not delivering up the menu options advertised in the documentation. In fact, a window opens but remains grey without instructions/options. Like MicroModulator, the issue tracker says it is deprecated/ not available post Mar-2024

Are there any others that anyone with recent experience can suggest? I think the manual editing sounds a bit depressing...

I'm running an up-to-date M4 as at 20th Nov 2024

I keep ending up at this:

"...Automatic support for microtonal accidentals is another matter. It's a bit more complex because there can be different tunings that might make sense. Someday probably there will be options for this, but meanwhile, note the various plugins that already exist for this."

so if you can point me to the documentation I've missed I'd be grateful

OK. Is there a way to see how many cents these have been set up for? I'm thinking it's quarter tones for the couple of sets I tried, but trust eyes over ears unfortunately.

Seems like 19EDO is not going to be achievable then. I would need 63/64c intervals

I did write a few plugins for tuning notes to some microtonal tuning systems.
This one can be used to tune notes according to tuning systems which are generated by their fifth, like 19EDO and 17EDO you mentioned.
