Shamisen tablature support
Hello, and apologies if this is already supported. I started using MuseScore today so I may have missed it but I am trying to write music for shamisen using tabs. I was elated to see that shamisen is a supported instrument. However, the only staff option is a 5-line staff, whereas 3 lines are commonly used in shamisen nowadays. I was thinking of using guitar tabs but, honestly, it is a suboptimal solution. Additionally, there are specific engravings which we use which I could not locate. I did find an old plugin, but it is apparently no longer supported. Is there a workaround I can use? If not, in my opinion shamisen tablature would be a great addition to MuseScore. TIA

What do you mean by "5-line clef"? A 5-line staff, standard western notation? Or a 5-string tablature staff?

Apologies, I did indeed mean to write staff. I want write in 3-string tablature, but only 5-line staff is supported for shamisen, it seems.

As far as I can tell Tablature is not supported at all. As said below: MuseScore is lacking the string data needed for this

What can I do to contribute so it is in the future?
Whatever: as MuseScore doesn't have string data (number and tuning of strings, number of frets) for Shamisen, there's no tablature for it, so indeed only a regular 5 lines staff with a treble clef ottava bassa

I see, thank you for clarifying. Is it something which will be supported in the future or shall I abandon all hope? Just to add, shamisen has no frets, and the strings can be tuned according to 3 different tunings. I have noticed it's possible to change tuning of each string when using guitar tablature so I'd imagine the same would be possible for shamisen.

Yes, changing the string data is possible to the user, adding them is not.

Request this at https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/new/choose, along with the desired settings, number of strings, there tuinigs and the number of frets (even if it is fretless, then it's be the ambitus/range of a string, how many semitones it spanns)

Noted, thank you.

Thank you very much. ETA: I can see now this is how Finale does it as well (the user inputs "Wester notation " and shamisen notation magically appears). It already helps so I thank you.
