"Muse Strings" problems

• Dec 9, 2024 - 12:54

I have tried to use Muse Strings for a violin concerto score I completed recently. "Violin 1" for the solo is a VILE swoopy, extra glissando mess, only solved by using the "espressivo" sound flag, which, for some bizarre reason, removes the scooping horror. Secondly, Contrabass pizzicato is now inaudible below mezzoforte, and when I reverted to MS basics in an attempt to make it audible again, the very possibility of adding pizzicato from the text palette no longer works. Why not?
I don't think I'm an idiot, but could someone please explain this to me, and maybe suggest a solution (I think the violin solo IS fixed, however strangely, but the double bass pizz. thing is a REAL pain).

The 1 and 2 sounds in MuseScore do not refer to desks, but to playing styles. 1 being more expressive. I seldom use 1 for anything.
I think this piece for real players is fine. But problematic for playback in MuseScore. I often have two scores. One for real players and one for playback. My thoughts for playback here would be to raise dynamic levels to get the balance you want. Also, pan the score left and right. Beware that string notes as high as you have written are often out of tune. Though not much you can do about that.

Many thanks for your reply.
Do I therefore need to create two scores, one for Playback with different dynamics from that for real players? By the way, i realise the difference between Violin 1 and 2 being a matter of sound rather than desk. Violin 1 is a better sound, once one has removed the swoopy nonsense, though why that should be by ADDING "espressivo" is beyond me ...
