VSTs uninstalled but still showing in mixer.

• Dec 15, 2024 - 22:29

Hi,
I installed a couple of VSTs to try, but did not like them, so I uninstalled them. However, they are still showing in the drop down menu on Mixer but do not have any contents. I did a full search of my system to eliminate any "hiding places".
How can I get them off of Mixer?
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
1. Open the Muse Hub instrument folder. In Windows it is usually in "C:\Users[name]\Muse Hub\Instruments". In Mac I don't know.
2. Delete the ".instrument" file.
3. Open Muse Hub (due to licensing)
4. Open MuseScore. It will then re-scan the files in the folder and the uninstalled VSTs found will no longer be there.

This is not correct.
Muse Sounds instruments have a sqlite database .instruments .
Deleting this file will not fix your VST problem.
VST's config file is in C:\Users\ [your user] \AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\known_audio_plugins.json
Edit this file to remove unwanted VST entries or just delete it. MuseScore will scan for VST's when starting.
