Ctrl+Up/Down Inoperable
Cannot use Ctrl+Up or Ctrl+Down to octave pitch shift after updating to 4.4.4 with latest revision. I've tried resetting to default, and also redefining with factory default settings, to no avail. I've reviewed forums, FAQ's, and even messaged MuseScore Support about a week ago, also with no response.
OS: Windows 11 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.4.4-243461245, revision: 2232670
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't guarantee that this will work, but it's worth trying:
Move pitch down an octave and Move pitch up an octave
Ctrl+Down and Ctrl+Up

Daniel R and bobjp...
Thanks, guys, but that's exactly what I did (about 3 or 4 times) before I posted. That's what I meant when I said 'reset and redefined'. I even closed MuseScore and reopened to see if the changes would take effect.
As another option, I'm thinking of re-downloading the latest revision and re-installing.
Thanks SO much for your suggestions!!

Bill

Reinstall seldom works. You might try a Reset found in the Help tab. Or Widows can do a repair. Found in Control panel>Programs and features.

Thanks, bobjp...I agree about the reinstall probability, but wanted to cover as many options as possible. Based on your suggestion, I tried a 'Revert to Factory Settings' (couldn't find 'Reset') and that didn't work. Did a Windows repair, which also didn't work.
I tried several of my older charts, and the Ctrl+arrow doesn't work on them, either. I'm wondering if the glitch may be in my keyboard (the Ctrl key). I unplugged then reconnected the USB from the keyboard, which did nothing. I'm now going to try to switch keyboards to see if that remedies the situation.
I'll keep you guys updated for future troubleshooting you might experience.

Changing keyboards did remedy the situation.

You might try the on screen keyboard. That might help find the problem. It found in Settings>Accessibility, so something like that.

Great idea...never thought of that.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. Do you have MuseScore Studio 4.4.4? Have you used that keystroke combination lately to change octave and it worked for you?

Works fine for me. The best way for a reinstall to work would be this:
Save your score folder and any other additions to a usb drive.
Uninstall MU4.
Run a search of your hard drive for MuseScore4
Review the list and delete everything, unless you see something you still want.
If you have a registry cleaner, run that.
A normal uninstall doesn't delete everything. In some cases it is assumed you are going to reinstall. So some settings are retained so you don't have to start completely over. But in this case we do want to start over.
Even so, who knows if it will work.
Did using a different keyboard work?

Just a troubleshooting idea - since you’re using Windows, what happens when you open a large document in Word (or whatever program you have like that) and press CTRL-END. I believe this is the key combination to go to end of file. In other words, does the CTRL key work in other programs?
Another troubleshooting idea - in MuseScore, does CTRL work for any other command? For instance, click on a whole rest, then type CTRL-3 (add triplet)
Check in Edit>Preferences>Shortcuts to make sure it is still there. I see Daniel beat me.

@bobjp
The reason I laid out the steps to Clear before Define is that I came across a case in an earlier version of MuseScore Studio which required a Clear action.
In that case, the shortcut was apparently "still there" - but was not working. It needed the brute force approach of a Clear before the new Define had any effect!
Tried all manner of possible corrections (from both bobjp and DanielR), including changing keyboards, but none work.
Bobjp, I have a very effective uninstall program (Revo Uninstaller) that's more aggressive and thorough than the Windows 11 uninstall program), so I'll try that and reinstall MS 4.4.4 to see if the glitch remained in a residual file left behind when I reinstalled.
NEW UPDATE: I've kept MuseScore 3 on my PC (I've always preferred that version to write my charts until I got used to ver. 4), and the issue doesn't change: the Ctrl+arrow still has no effect. However, I just opened up my laptop with the MuseScore 4.4.4 on it and the Ctrl+arrow function works like it should! Don't know how to interpret that fact, though, without more thought.

That kind of sounds like a driver problem. Or perhaps use Device Manager to uninstall the keyboard and let it reinstall.

Re-installing and resetting MuseScore doesn't work -> not a MuseSCore issue
Changing the physical keyboard doesn't work -> The keyboard is OK
It works on a different computer -> The problem computer either has the wrong keyboard setup or the behaviour of the [Ctrl] key has been altered from default. This is not a MuseScore problem so please Google about how to change settings for your operating system.

Thanks for the troubleshooting options. I checked keyboard setup and it was set to the correct setup (US-qwerty). However, I added other regions and keyboard setups and tried them all. None correct the problem, so I switched back to US-qwerty. I even did most of the changes and restarted the computer just in case each change required a restart (notwithstanding that none of the guidance indicated a restart was required).

I also uninstalled the keyboard driver, disconnected the USB cord, then reinserted the cord to let the driver reset.

Speaking of the usb cable for the keyboard, I always turn off power management for usb inputs. That's a long shot, but nothing else has worked. About all that is left is an OS reset. I just had to do that because windows kept crashing.
