PALLETS in MuseScore 4

• Jan 7, 2025 - 18:59

When I am using Pallets to add Double Barlines, Fermatas, (etc.)
I find that I have to do so many clicks to find what I want.
AND when I want to close a Pallet I click on the Three dots
and then it asks me to close the pallet! (Another click) I wonder
if MuseScore can make the Pallets more straight-forward and
not require so much time finding, opening and closing them?

Both double barlines and fermatas require exactly two clicks. (For example, the arrow left of Barlines / then the double barline tool.) Indeed, almost every symbol available from the palettes requires a similar two clicks. You don't need to close the palettes. Simply leave them open, and then the items on those palettes only require a single click. If you simply want to close them, don't click the three dots, just click the down arrow left of the name of the palette.

If you find that they require more clicks simply to find the symbol you need, you'll learn them as you use the application.

Palettes can also be toggled expanded/collapsed by clicking on their header (or name). Also take a look at the three dots on the Palette tab itself - there are some possibly useful options there such as the ability to collapse all, expand all and have only a single palette open. And finally you may want to use the search to find what you want. (The search is slow to open and close at the moment though, some improvements should come with MuseScore 4.5).
