Possible minor bug in Staff/Part Properties

• Jan 8, 2025 - 02:43

I arrange for guitars & ukuleles and often have need for a baritone uke. Since there is no such instrument, I'll add a classical guitar and delete the E & A strings in Staff/Part Properties. This then requires I adjust the lower Usable Pitch Range to D3, but it never takes hold the first time I change it. The first few times I did it, I got red notes in Tablature and sure enough, the Usable Pitch Range low-end had changed up to a B3. I have since learned that it needs to be done twice every time. Set D3, hit Apply and OK. Go back in, low has changed itself, often to B3, change to D3 again, Apply/OK and the second time it holds. Not a huge deal now that I know I must duplicate it every time, but perhaps you can look into the issue.

Actually, there is a baritone uke. When you set up the score (or add instruments) click on "Common" in the instrument family column. Then select All Instruments> Plucked. And scroll down.

As with all other instruments, you can save yourself a lot of clicks and navigation through long lists, simply by typing the beginning of the instrument name in the search box when creating a score.
In this case, type "uku", and bingo, all available ukuleles are displayed...
