Please attach the score (.mscz file), a picture is of little use here for understanding what it's going on.
Your staff notation is not written for guitar. The octave showing between it and the TAB staff is incorrect.

Given that the top staff is a regular treble cleff, the pitches are correct. Those are the sounding pitches for a guitar. Howerver, a guitar is normally notated on octave higher than sounding.

Or with an ottava bass a treble clef
I have attached a sample where the staff notation is off by an octave when I cut and paste between the staff ant tab notation.

Thanks for attaching a sample score. See: 1OffByOctave.mscz
A little explanation: be aware that when importing a file such as MIDI, or MusicXML (which is the case for yours), some unexpected effects may occur. Next, the common guitar clef is the Clef de Sol 8bva (with the little 8 under the clef)
Introducing it here solved the problem. We'd have to check, but I assume that the guitar in the original file was chosen with the usual G clef, which is just as common (if not more so) for guitars.

If i change the octave of the tab, the copy paste conversion to tab works correctly.
To change the octave of the tab:
1 Right click on the tab just to the right of where it says TAB
2 Select 'Staff / Part Properties'
3 In the dialog near the bottom where it says transposition, enter 1 octave and select up. (See attachment)
Thank you everyone for your help!
