Can't install MuseScore Studio from Microsoft Store

• May 28, 2025 - 11:36

I have tried to install MuseScore Studio from Microsoft Store, following the instructions in the Handbook, but it keeps returning error 0x80072EFD. All common solutions don't work, and I have asked Microsoft for technical support a few times. They have provided most solutions even install my Windows operating system again but the problem hasn't been solved yet.

I am afraid that the release server is not working and asking for support here. Thanks.

Works for me, sort of, I can download it and in the attempt to install it claims:

to be installed already (which is true, for the non-Microsoft Store Version)

Thar error 0x80072EFD is about a firewall not allowing access, and that's on your side, not on MuseScore's or Microsoft's side, might be access to musescore.com (for online scores) or to musehub.com (for the sounds) or to check for updates

If you are following the instructions in the Handbook to the letter, then that link points to MuseScore 3 which is somewhat out of date. I seem to recall installing it myself quite a while ago, and had problems with it then, so I uninstalled it and installed it from the up-to-date download file on musescore.org instead.

I notice there's now a "MuseScore Studio" app in the Microsoft store which is doubtless more up-to-date since it uses the current logo. I've not tried it and can't vouch for it, but you should find it here: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xp89bn2qwzxg3t
