Muse Jazz font in tempo mark
Tempo marks are incorrectly formatted when using Muse Jazz font. Notes are ugly, and wrongly oriented, looking nothing like notes on the staff. A workaround would be to make the tempo mark invisible and write a new one as text. But how can we create a quarter note as text (using Ubuntu)

I don't see what's "ugly" or "wrongly oriented" in the tempo marking. *shrug*.
Nonetheless, to enter a quarter note (or any other symbol) as text, click the Insert special characters button on the Properties panel, while editing the text.

"Ugly" is obviously subjective and relative. What is ugly for me is that it's a different font. "Wrongly oriented" should be obvious. In case it's not, it means that instead of having the left side of the note lower than the right side, it is an horizontal oval. Additionally, the stem is much shorter. That exactly what we get with the standard tempo mark formatted with the Muse Jazz font. I think that's a bug, and the note should have the same appearance as notes on the staff. These are examples with a normal note on the left and a note in text on the right. The first example shows what we get with the Muse Jazz Font:
The seoncond example is what we get with the Leyland font:
The Leyland example is not prefect (the stem is to short), but the Muse Jazz example is what I call "ugly".

They are from different fonts, MuseJazz and MuseJazz Text (and Leland and Leland Text)

That explains why, but not how to work around the problem. How can we select Muse Jazz or Leland in a text? The font used for the note in the tempo mark isn't changeable. It automatically changes with the font selected for the score, although it doesn't use the same font. The only way to change the tempo mark font is to select a different font for the score, but selecting Muse Jazz will cause Muse Jazz Text for the tempo mark. So my question is how can we use Muse Jazz in stead of Muse Jazz Text for the tempo mark. And if that isn't possible, how can we use Muse Jazz in text. (If I format a text in Muse Jazz and insert the special character representing a quarter note, this character automatically uses Muse Jazz Text instead of Muse Jazz.)

Format > Style > Score allows to use adiferent Musical Fonts and different Musical Text Fonts
So maybe try MuseJazz + Finale Broadway Text

Thanks. Muse Jazz + Gonville Text gives acceptable result (with Broadway Text, the note is placed lower and not aligned with the equal sign.)

Change the font of that one character.

That's not possible. Any special musical character will always use the font configured for the score Musical text Font. Not sure whether this is a bug or a feature/.

That's bizarre! I would have sworn that I had done so successfully before making that suggestion ... but I can't do it now. *shrug*
