Playback tempo not returning after fermata and rit --> a tempo
On measure 10, there is a fermata. After the fermata is played, instead of returning to the original tempo, it continues playing at a slightly slower tempo. Similarly, on measure 28, there is a ritenuto followed by a tempo. However, once again, the tempo fails to return to the original speed and plays at a slightly slower tempo yet again. If I save, close, and then relaunch MuseScore, the problem disappears temporarily. However, after playing it back again or after some editing, the problem recurs repeatedly.
If I choose to ignore this and keep editing. At some point, the tempos go all over the place. For example, sometimes, the tempo would actually become faster after the fermata or at the a tempo mentioned above.

I didn't have any problem with the fermata.
The "a tempo" is anchored at the end of measure 29. When I moved it to the right just a tad, to be anchored to measure 30, then it worked. Just to be sure, you could delete it, select measure 30, then add it back in.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know why the problem kept on persisting for me, but here is how I recently fixed it. For the a tempo, deleting and re-adding it seemed to have fixed the issue. Just to make sure, I manually specified the bpm in properties. Similarly, for the fermata case, specifying the number of bpm by overriding the written tempo seems to have fixed the problem.
