What MuseScore has done for me

I had recently purchased high quality manuscript paper - I had a book before from 1997 when I started learning piano, but can't seem to find it. However, I have since found that I do not need paper and instead, I use MuseScore. Writing the music on paper is such a pain in the arse, as the computer can quickly and tidily manage things. The perfect move was putting the software onto my laptop next to the piano.

I'm a fan of early Elton stuff, but the majority of available transcriptions are crap (as can be a number of publications). Some transcribe the song as a whole (some won't want to play the song including other instruments, with or without melody lines integrated), whilst others very bizarrely transpose the song (as if someone nudged it by accident). There are piano transcriptions, which are really good (but don't cover the unpopular, but still great stuff) - Elton's Cafe is a site dedicated to accurate transcriptions (although there are some errors still), but hasn't been updated for 3 years.

I got demos/vocal-piano/keyboard tracks for 'Rock Of The Westies' which allows you to hear the songs in all their unabashed glory without all the other instruments, and I decided to start transcribing them as they're quite fun to listen to. Also done stuff not on this album.

At the same time, I thought of other songs I'd like to transcribe, and this software has allowed me to improve my music skills as well.

Thank you!
Scott
