mixer instrument sound list alphanumeric sort order

hi. re v2.0 beta 1, choosing instruments in the mixer for playback.
i wonder if the instrument list could be alphabetical order, or sub-grouped by category but then both levels being in alphanumeric order respectively.
i know you can repeatedly hit the first letter of any instrument, and that is great.
path: view/mixer/sound: drop down combo. n staves. n instruments to choose.

We use a standard way of representing midi instruments, which we load from the soundfont file. This file format does not contain any information about categories, so we can't group instruments.
It seems simple: "Distortion Guitar" should be grouped with "Overdrive Guitar" and so on, but custom soundfonts use different names for the instruments, some soundfonts could not contain guitar or sounds at all, etc.
So, we can't group instruments.
As I said, we use a standard method of representing midi instruments, by their absolute order. As I know all notation software or DAWs do this (Rosegarden, LMMS, Qtractor, TuxGuitar, etc.).
