Can't open v.2 files
I have a friend who emails me his latest compositions. We have both got the beta MuseScore 2 on our computers. I just got a file from him that I can't open. I get an error message saying,
"Cannot read [filepath]. This score was saved using a newer version of MuseScore. Visit the MuseScore website to obtain the latest version."
I just downloaded v.2 about three weeks ago and I think it is up to date. Any thoughts about what the problem might be? Or maybe the beta version just changes faster than I thought.
(On the other hand, not getting so many of my friend's compositions in process might be a good thing.)

Three weeks ago it got to be older than Beta 2, so you need to get that.
Download a Nightly, extract it into a folder you like, can coexist.
You can attach your score here, if you want
Three weeks ago is not update to date at all - it's three weeks old :-) There have indeed been continual changes - usually several per day , and we periodically up the internal version number to prevent problems that could be caused by from loading a file created in a newer version. Three weeks ago was before the beta 2 release. He's probably using the beta 2, and if so you should be too if you wish to share files. Either that or you could both uplaod to the latest nightly.
It is not supported to share files betwene different experimental prelease builds of 2.0. That includes both beta and nightly builds - they are all experimental and definitely pre-release. We do hoep to keep it the case that files created with either Beta build will be openable in the final release, but going backwards definitely won't work.

Actually, I got the thing to open using the Ignore button, but I think I will tell him to stop updating for a while and to tell me when he does. Thanks — Jake
