vertical space between lines

Page 8 of my current score (and only page 8) has too much space between each part, thereby obliterating the drum line. All other pages show correct spacing. How do I correct one page?

Click "Reply".
Scroll down page.
Click "File attachments".
Click "Browse".
Locate the file you wish to upload.
Double-click on the file or click on the file and then click "Open" or whatever other option looks sensible (Operating-System dependant).
Check your post for errors and add in any other useful information.
Click "Save"

Where do I begin this process? I don't see the words "reply" or "browse" in any of the links on the upper left-hand corner i.e. File, Edit, etc.

I'm sorry, I completely disagree. The problem is confined to one page, beginning at measure 8. The preceding pages and the following pages are correctly aligned and show all 18 parts, 17 instruments and vocalist. Using a ruler on the screen, the lines are 5/8" apart. The offending page, page 3, the lines are l" apart and result in the guitar, bass, and drum parts completely covered by the gray margin. Furthermore, the horizontal lines at the bottom of the page representing the pages are obviously further apart on the offending page.

the lyrics begin on page 3 in measure 5, in only one staff, causing a (slightly) different spacing of page 2 vs. page 3.
But starting with page 4, measure 8, there are lyrics in (almost) all staves "tweet tweet tweet", causing the spacing difference you seem to be complaining about between page 3 and 4
You could make that "tweet tweet tweet" being staff text rather than lyrics, to save that space.

Or make the page longer, like 460mm or 18" or use 'hide empty staves'

As mentioned, the problem is the lyrics, plain and simple. Measure 8 is where they begin (for most staves, anyhow), so measure 8 is the extra space begins.

So indeed, there is no bug here - MuseScore is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, which is create enough room for lyrics. It's not MuseScore's fault there isn't actually room on the page for this. But you can override this in any of several ways. Assuming this isn't primarily going to be a vocal arrangement, I'd probably go to Style / Edit General Style / Page and reducing the "Lyrics lower margin" - even to the point of making it negative. Your lyrics will be very crowded, but if it's just a short passage, you can adjust things manually. Aside from that, you could also make the staves smaller still in Layout / Page Settings, or, as mentioned, use larger paper (or just use the same paper vertically instead of horizontally).

But it is important to realize - these are not arbitrary MuseScore quirks we are discussing here,. It's a simple matter of having too much "stuff" to fit on the page given your current settings. MuseScore is just doing what you are asking. If you want more to fit on the age, you'll have to change some settings somewhere.

BTW, one other thing working against you is that you have (inadvertently, I assume) entered a lyric onto verse two in the second tenor sax part, casuing more and definitely unnecessary space to be allocated there than for the other staves.

Definitely need a 'shoe horn' for this one. See attachment - submitted as a 'quick fix'.
Feel free to continue experimenting...

Compare my settings, especially menu items:
Layout / Page Settings / Scaling
Style / Edit General Style / Page

Also, for the words 'band vocal' (and also the word 'sing!') you used chord symbols?
I left them as such, but some anchor points were pointing to different measures (which became apparent when I started moving stuff around).

Wonderful! Pg. 4's instrument lines are perfectly aligned with Pg. 3's, and Pg. 2, etc., leaving plenty of room at the bottom for the drum line. Many, many thanks!

I like using the "K" key for all printed notations because I like that hand-written look for chords and for words. I notice all the instruments are that way with the exception of the tpts.

I'll make the Page and Style changes on the score in My Documents. How do I transfer your adjusted score to My Documents?

Don't use chord symbols for ordinary text! It only barely works in 1.3, and will not work in 2.0. If you are using one of the "Jazz" templates, all text will already be using the MuseJazz font - not just chord symbols. If you aren't using one of those templates, you can set the style for any kind of text you like to use MuseJazz. So just set the text style for "Staff text" to use MuseJazz, at whatever size you want - although I would say the size being used for chord symbols is entirely too large for other text, and will just make the music harder to read when there are chord symbols as well.

BTW, one reason why it is a very bad idea to use chord symbols for ordinary text is transposition. When you go to generate parts, any piece of text you see that begins with the letter A-G is in danger of being "transposed" - like, turning the words "Do it again!" for trumpet into "Eo it again!" (because D transposes to E).

To save a score posted here, just click it. Your web browser should pop up a window asking where you want to save it. if not, consult the documentation for your web browser.

I was wondering why you used chord name instead of system or staff text; and Marc has already pointed out the pitfalls.

However, if you like the 'handwritten' style of that chord font, you can select it (MuseJazz), or even another handwritten type (like Comic Sans) for your system/staff text.

Also note that system text, when entered once into the main score, will extract to all parts you create - which will save even more space on those crowded pages.
In fact, in your score, the 'band vocal' and 'sing' instructions are good candidates. They will extract to all parts, and you can make them invisible prior to printing those few parts that omit the instructions.
