Notes Disappeared

• Feb 23, 2010 - 08:06

Hi, I am running 0.9.6 beta 1 on windows 7.

As I'm trying to finish up this piece, I suddenly realized that notes have start to disappear. (See screenshot).

Eg. Bar 25, 3rd beat. Bar 26, 1st beat. Bar 27 beat 1.

It seems I cannot add notes back into the place. Do anyone knows how I can fix this?

Thanks,
Joshua

The best way is to insert a measure and enter the music again and then delete the faulty measure.
See attachment.

I will be very interested if you know how you manage to have this problem.

Thanks for the workaround..

Here's what I did from what could recall

1. I started with a 0.95 score.
2. I upgraded to 0.96 and continue editing
3. I added some arppegiones (saw another issue on that, but I do not think if was due to that)
4. I added 2/4 to the front

I have recreated the bug by using backup of my score. Then changed the time signature to 2/4 in front. This caused notes to disappear. When I exported it as a lilypond file, I can see that there are spaces where the notes are supposed to be.

It could be because of an irreuglar time signature in bar 13.

I'm attaching my older copy of this score so you can recreate the problem

This older score already has some corruption (take a look at the second from last measure). Changing time signatures does remove notes in current versions of MuseScore although you can often work around it by copying the notes, changing the time signature, and then pasting.

However having measures that contain either more or less notes than should be allowed is really the bug we are interested in finding the steps. I experienced this with version 0.9.5 but I haven't experienced it first hand with the more recent builds.

The best way is to insert a measure and enter the music again and then delete the faulty measure.

This alone didn't work for me and this highly corrupted file, which repeatedly crashed MuseScore during editing. Only deleting the last two measures in XML with a text editor allowed to repair the score successfully. The result is attached.

and it works very well :)

Unfortunately not for me. MuseScore spits following warnings in terminal:

layoutX: empty measure: tick 40320 len 1920
layoutX: nticks==0 segmente 6, segmentIdx: 3, ticks: 42240 ntick 42240
layoutX: empty measure: tick 40320 len 1920
layoutX: nticks==0 segmente 6, segmentIdx: 3, ticks: 42240 ntick 42240

The last measure has actual 5/4 and the bar 26 is still broken etc.
