Tempo note duration

I think I must be missing something very simple, but I've not found out yet how to set the tempo note duration. If I'm working on, say, on a march in 6/8 time how do I set a dotted quarter = to 120bpm, or if I'm working on, say, a ballad in half common time how do I set a minim = to 80 bpm? I've looked at the play window and at 'create - tempo - text' and I can only find the bpm adjustments there, not the note duration which applies to the bpm setting.

I'm probably going to be pretty embarrassed when I get the answer to this !!

Except if I'm wrong, BPM is always related to the quarter note. You just need to do the maths. If you need half note = 80, then BPM=160 should do it.

If you want a text, (minim = 80) then use the F2 palette in text edit mode to access the right symbol.

OK thanks for that. It's what I've been doing up to now to get the playback tempo right. It just gets a bit tedious if you're working in compound time signatures like 5/4, 6/8 or 12/8. This has to be one for the wish list, to be able to assign a note duration to the bpm setting.
