Tying chords together.

• Mar 16, 2015 - 17:11

When I tie a single note, I usually select the note I want to tie, select the type of note(quarter, half , whole, etc.) and then press the tie button. But this doesn’t work for chords.
I try to tie chords this way:
Select the first note and tie that note.
Then it looks like this: Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 1.05.57 PM.png
Then I tie the second note, but then the first note disappears.
It looks like this: Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 1.06.08 PM.png
When I put the note that disappeared back in, it is no longer tied to the previous note.

Maybe I am just doing it the wrong way, but I don’t know how else to tie chords. Help!

1.3 won't work well on Mavericks - crashes often.

There are lots of ways to select a chord. For instance, you cna shift+drag select, or you can clear the selection with Esc then shift+click a note (you have to clear it first or results are unpredictable, since shift+click selects a range starting from current selection). Or click a note then shift+right to extend the selection followed by shift+left to move it back again. The techniques all work in 1.2 and all other releases.

You have to have already entered both chords, then select the first, then press tie button. I guess I can't *prove* this worked prior to 1.3, but I sure thought it did. If not, then just add the ties one at a time - again, while *not* in note entry mode. That's the most important key to tying chords - you can't do it in note entry mode.
