Double Sided Print Default

• Apr 3, 2015 - 17:48

V 2.0 is excellent but I hope this little annoyance has a simple answer!

When I print Musescore automatically sets my printer to print double-sided - unless I go into the printer properties each time and disable it.

Everything else in Musescore seems configurable - so I expect (and hope) that there's a preference to set to default to single-side printing (or to use the system default). Where and/or how, please? Otherwise (or as well) is there a way to save single/double as a property of the score/file?

If the answer's No to both, please in next upgrade ...

Thanks.

MuseScore will try to print double sided if and only if your score is set to double sided in Layout / Page Settings. And that is the default, but if you create a template that turns this off and create future scores from that template, that should work as far as I know (if not, then that would be a bug).

I'm not crazy about the default as I gather it does not work well for cdrtain printers (including, obviously, printers that don't have a duplex mode).

Many thanks again. How on earth did I fail to spot that? Sometimes one does ...

I was using V2.0 as downloaded. This is the first time I've found new software set with a totally unexpected default such as this. I do suggest that in the next update the downloaded software should default to single-sided and the user have to opt for double-sided.

It may see natural to many users to automatically print multi-page music double-sided. However, in many cases blanks pages, fold-outs, fold-ups, etc. are necessary to optimise page turns - especially for folk like me, as a flautist, who need two hands on the keys all the time!

Re 2.0, even just as a casual user, the more I use it the more I like it. Very well done.
