Automatically add fret diagram accord with all chord symbols and Show/Hide all fret diagrams

MuseScore will be more cool if it has two these features
They save time for who work on fret diagram

Not sure what you mean about automatically adding fre diagrams - do you mean, if you write "Dbma7#11", MuseScore should automatically out a fret diagram for that> Seems a very tall order, and there is almost no chance it would comne up with the specific voicing you might have wanted.

As for hiding fret diagrams, that's easy - right click one, Select / All similar elements, press "V" to toggle visibility.

I have a very old version of Encore which places the correct symbol automatically. Hand-tailoring symbols in a book of 20 songs, which I am currently notating for a song writer, will take an eternity. I'll just have to get my old computer out of the cupboard and go back to Encore for this job, which will be strange after MuseScore's user-friendly style.

There is no such thing as "correct", unless you believe there is only way to play G7, which I know is not true at all. Encore might randomly pick one of the dozens of possible G7 voicings for you, and if you are always happy with its choices, great, you're welcome to use that. Somehow, I suspect that what you you gain will be more than offset by what you lose, though.

Be sure to see how MuseScore allows you to add fret diagrams to a custom palette. You don't need to hand-edit each chord symbol. If you're happy using the same G7 voicing everywhere a G7 is called for, just do it once, add it to your custom palette as explained in the Handbook under "Custom palette", and then you can use it over and over.

Thanks for that.

I'm aware of the different voicings - I use a card fretboard to check the feasibility of the shapes I use in jazz compositions. It's important that the guitar doesn't clash with the middle harmonies in the ensembles. Nevertheless, the fact that musicians require fret symbols in song sheets indicates they're at an early level of development. I haven't checked this but I expect the basic shapes are used in virtually all these cases. Ask for a G7 and a guitarist will go for the 'basic' shape first unless otherwise stated. I'm currently notating some songs for a songwriter and the act of manually creating the symbols would take too much time, especially since I'm a trombonist. This doesn't mean I never will, of course. It's unreasonable to expect programs to do everything so I'm getting the job done OK.

Finale does them automatically, too, with the option to create custom shapes. The best policy, I believe but I find the act of putting notes on paper is too slow in Finale.

Thanks again, John Morton.

I mean that:
- About show/hide all fret diagrams:
fret-board.jpg
Position automatically align

- Automatically add fret diagram accord with chord symbol:
@ Marc Sabatella: yes, I mean that when I write "Dbma7#11", MuseScore should automatically out a fret diagram for that, it should be popular fret diagrams form. Otherwise, user should manually edit to accord with themselves
