# How to set multi volta but no order

• May 3, 2015 - 20:34

I have example piece as above.
I want it play : 1 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 1 > 2 > 1 > 4.

Is there any way setting like that?

Thank you,

PM: I try to set below, but it don't play as I want

The way it works currently is probably not what you expect, but you have to consider each repeat bar separately. The repeat list for the second volta should actually be set to "1", because it is the first time you reach *that particular measure* that you want to play it. And the repeat count for measure 2 should be 2, because that particular repeat sign is only actually taken once.

What do you mean this your sentence "you have to consider each repeat bar separately" !?
I guess you want that I must break "volta 1.3." to two separate measures for volta 1 and volta 3. Right?

It's hard to explain, as I don't totally understand it myself. But no, you don't need separate measures. Read my specific suggestions - which I trie,d and they *do* work - then think about why they make sense in a strange sort of way. The measure with the first volta really does repeat only twice, even though the whole passage repeats three times. That's what I mean about considering each bar separately.

I did as you said above (repeat list for the second volta should actually be set to "1" and the repeat count for measure 2 should be 2), it seem to be better but it still don't have to be what it should do:
It play:.......1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 4
Expected:..1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 4

Is this a bug or my example piece is unreal !?

I'm using the latest bui,d, so it's possible this is a bug that was fixed sicne the release of 2.0 - there definitely were improvements to handling of repeats. It's also possible I didn't adequately describe something. Here is my score, which plays as expected for me.

I tested your file on MuseScore 2.0 and Nighty build v2.0.1.
The both is the same result what isn't expected for me.

What is played from your PC, Marc,
1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 4 or
1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 4 ?

Because this "1 2 1 3 1 2 4" order is incorrect. It don't accord with above notation.
A correct order what accord with above notation must be: 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 4

That doesn't make sense to me. I see nothing in the excerpt to suggest that there should be an additional repeat after the third ending. If you want measure 4 to be a fourth ending, you should add a volta there, and then set repeat counts accordingly.
