How do I add a variable number of notes to each beat in a bar

• Jun 13, 2010 - 00:48

I am arranging some jazz piano music - often fast arpeggios are played with the right hand over a steady bass rhythm. The arpeggios are basically 'squeezed in" to the beat, some have 4, 5, 7, 8 or 9 notes to each beat. How can I do this in musescore? e.g. 1st beat 8 notes, 2nd beat 7 notes, 3rd beat 7 notes etc? Played smoothly, it is really trying to put some specified number of notes over 3 beats. Can I spread a certain number of notes over a certain number of beats? Thanks

Assuming your beat is a quarter note, If you want eight notes in a beat then you would use regular 32nd notes, right? For 7 notes you would use septuplets (see the handbook: tuplet for instructions).
