Suddenly it deleted itself

At first I want to say that I am a MuseScore user just for the last few days and I like very much, but I have encountered some problems. (I am using MacBook Pro.)
I have made a few songs. The first problem occured just during my work, when I was writing notes and suddenly the program quitted and left only a empty sheet as a saved backup. I was very angry. I also have a PC, and I had installed MuseScore on my PC and it was much much worse, it quitted every 5 minutes, on Mac it happened just once.
Now, I just wanted to find something in my sheets, so I opened them. At first, I opened Song1, then went out, then I opened Song2, then went out and so on, to number 4. All of my sheets are gone! The files are 4 kb big, I am not happy.
MuseScore is really good, it is free, but it is NOT stable. How do you use it when it crashes so often? I started to like the software, but I guess that this is the tax for MuseScore being free of charge.
I am thinking about trying something else. Can anyone help me out? Have I done something wrong? Do you encounter the same problems?
Thanks for comments.
Peter

MuseScore is not only free of charge. It's also free like in freedom, the source code is available for everybody.

Regarding your problem, can you attach one of your files? Did you save them (File -> Save) before MuseScore closes?
Did you do something special before MuseScore closes alone?

To read about the differences between ".mscz" and ".mscx" see [[nodetitle:Export]] in the handbook. It explains the reason for the different file sizes.

Crashes are not normal. If you discover a series of steps that causes MuseScore to crash please report them on this forum.
