Johnson's "Jingles" in Musescore

• Jul 8, 2010 - 16:22

I was recently challenged to write a transcription in Musescore of the James P. Johnson novelty piece, "Jingles." For the source, I used a piano roll Johnson made in 1929 rather than the recording he made for Decca in 1944.

Writing "Jingles" in Musescore was a bit of a challenge because of its length (the compressed mscz file is 53K). On my computer Musescore (0.9.6) really gets the "slows" when editing music of this length so the piece was written in 32 bar sections that were then pasted together. It sure would be nice if the Musescore gurus could take a look at eliminating Musescore's slow response to editing large scores of this type.

I added a link to "Jingles" in the index page I created for the Splendid Piano examples
