Grace notes in linked TAB don't mirror staff positions

• Jun 22, 2015 - 11:36

See attached file. Two issues:

  1. In cases where there are accidentals causing the grace notes to be set back from the main chord, the grace notes in TAB do not mirror the linked staff positions.
  2. If the user tries to offset the grace notes in TAB to compensate, the offset positions are lost when the file is saved and reopened.

I'd coinsider it a bug if the positions in the tab staff *did* blindly mimic the positions in the standard stand staff rather than being laid out independently. Consider also cases where an interval of a second or unison or overlapping voices on a standard staff causes the noteheads to be offset, but it would be wrong for the tab staff to mirror that. See #30001: Standard stave layout of adjacent notes mirrored in tablature for a case where we currently get this wrong but it is fixed on save/load.

The manual adjustments are saved if you make them using the Chord section of the Inspector rather than Note. The distinction is less obviously important for tab if there are no stems, but it's still relevant in the same way, so you probably *should* be using Chord. But of course, it should still work when using Note, even if using Note is not really what you probably want. So feel free to file that as a bug. It apparently only affects tab staves; Note offsets do save and restore fine for standard staves.
