Page Format, System format

• Sep 13, 2010 - 03:10

Anybody could give me some "tips" on format?
is there some way to edit the distance between systems? Or the number of measures per system?
If hay use the tool of system break, often I get only one measure per system, but I need only take one measure to the next system. How can I do that?
Is there some way to control the % of the music? When I can get a format more or less near that I want, actually the music becomes too little. How can I fix that?
Thanks.
Sorry for my english

1. Edit distance between systems.
2. Select number of bars per system.
3. I'm not sure. This may refer to "Line Break".
4. Control % of music. Do you mean control how much of the page is covered in music?
5. (I think) How can I increase the size of the notes, etc.

2. Go to Style>Edit general style>System. You can set the number of measures there.

I come from Finale. About 3) Where can I get more information about "Line Break" the handbook is so poor in this point.
4. Yes. I mean if I want the page at 80% or 70 %. Or at least bigger than I actually have. I am posting a copy of a hymn of Antonio de Salazar, "Kapelmeister" of Mexico Cathedral during the last part of XVII century. I would like have a biggest image of music. How can I do that?
Thanks for your answer.

You can make the music bigger, in Layout -> Page Settings -> Scaling
Line break or system break are quite simble. When you want your music to go on a new staff, you add a line break to force this behaviour. Adding line break can be done by drag and dropping from the palette or selecting a barline and press Return.
The distance between system is set in Style->Edit general style->Page.

Last thing, MuseScore always create two files when you save your score one without a , and one with a final ,. The second one is a backup only. It's better to attach the mscz file (without the comma)

When I tried to open your score, I got a "failed" message. The comma after the file name suggests that it is a temporary score, hence the failure. Please post the actual score.

As far as #3, I still have no idea what it is you want to do. Can you be a little clearer?

I am posting again the Antonio de Salazar's motet. It is the compressed file. Let me know if you can open it now or if I have to post the non-compressed file.
By #3 I mean that I would like to understand which is the function of Line break. Perhaps I need to try again during a while.
Thanks again for your comments. They has been very useful.

The function of line break is to adjust the number of bars in a system so it is easy to read. This is an opportunity to layout according to structure.

So If you write an 8 bar piece you can, by adding a line break to the (4th) bar, divide the piece into easily readable/understandable chunks (depending on your style :-))..
