More than 5 score shares

• Jul 28, 2015 - 23:53

I am a person who loves music. I write songs quite often with MuseScore and I love it. I found out that a regular member cannot share more than 5 scores. I cannot afford a pro account and I don't need the perks of the pro account. I would suggest making it where regular members can share up to 20 scores. This would be great for people who can't afford the pro account but still love to write and share music.

Basically, the way I'm thinking of it, being able to save a score online and being able to play it and download it yourself from another computer is one thing (let's call it the practical aspect of musescore.com); having your scores visible to others in a public profile is another (let's call it the fun or the social aspect).

I'm proposing keeping a tight cap on the social aspect, to maintain the strong incentive to get a Pro account (people really love all that commenting and tagging and favoriting and sharing), while raising the total limit to allow up to 20 private scores for a free account. (Or fifteen private scores and five visible to others…)

Yes, what I'm proposing is to greatly increase the value of a free account. But the differences between free and Pro are still there. Anybody's free account would still look just as limited as before to everybody else (only five scores), and the free account would still be limited (to 20 scores), just not as low a limit. Meanwhile, the Pro account gets you the social aspect and all the benefits of score sharing, plus the ability to upload fifty, a hundred, or however many scores you want (and have all of them publicly visible, if you wish).

Sharing more than 5 scores *is* one of the perks of the Pro account, probably for most people the main perk. I'm naturally sympathetic to people who can't afford things, but on the other hand the developers do an enormous amount of work to provide us with the MuseScore software free of charge, and I think it's reasonable for them to charge whatever they want for the extra service of musescore.com. Without MuseScore, I would have to make do with Finale Notepad or spend a lot of money. Likewise, the developers are already giving you a generous gift. It is their choice whether to change the sharing limit for the free musescore.com account.

Hello,
I would also like to see the max of visible scores increased to 20. I am a leader of an Afro-Brazilian community group on a volunteer basis. Since I am already investing my time into teaching the members of the group for free, I can't see myself paying for a pro account, especially since only a handful of people are likely to listen and view my scores online.

I am greatful for Musescore!

Thanks,
Sam

Hi folks,
I'm sure we would all like to get as much as possible for free, everyone needs more money.

And that includes the developers, who work full time, basically for free, except what we donate and through the pro account, for example.

I would urge you to seriously consider at least making a small donation. I have been on this site using MS since very early in it's development, and I have very little money. It was a great pleasure to me to be able to finally make a small donation fairly recently, after years of using MS.

I am not a developer, only a very grateful user.

Warm regards to all, and thanks to the contributors.
