[trunk] Note entry cursor as a gray block. Why?

• Nov 5, 2010 - 09:34

Hi,

I just noticed that in current trunk revision (maybe since a few revisions), the 'cursor' used during note entry changed from the 'blue line' to a gray block and I wonder why.

1) The blue line was very visible, while the gray block is harder to spot.

2) The fact that the block has a width (while the line was, of course, a line) might be an attempt to make clearer than note entry is always in overwrite mode rather than in insert mode (to borrow the terms from word processing), but the effect is rather fuzzy.

So, I am interested in knowing the reasons for the change.

My setup: trunk rev. 3673, Windows XP, compiled with Qt SDK 10.04.

(Incidentally, during note entry the block 'jumps' back and forth between the start of the measure and the actual writing point; I assume this will be fixed, but the above remarks will remain).

Thanks,

M.

You can see the change as experimental. Color, transparency and width of the cursor are subject to change.
Next i want to add a visual feedback of the current note entry octave (were notes are placed if you type abcdefg) by highlighting or darken the appropriate area.

The "jumping" of the cursor should be fixed already in current trunk.
