I just calculate what the tempo of a quarter note would be. So like dotted quarter = 80 means quarter = 120.
But yes, this is on my list of feature requests I wanted to make too.
(although quite honestly, I haven't explored it thoroughly to see if there is a way... which is why I haven't made the request yet)
As far as I know time signatures don't say anything about speed or tempo. If you want to change the tempo when you change time signature you can use a tempo text. Change the BPM to have the tempo you want.
If you have a 4/4 measure with 4 beats at tempo 120 and a 12/8 measure with 4 dotted quarter and you want the quarter to be at the same speed than the dotted quarter, add a tempo text on the first dotted quarter and set its BPM to 180.
