Organ Prelude

• Dec 14, 2010 - 20:27

I don't actually play the organ; I've been trying to find a teacher for ages. Here is my first compositon for organ, inspired and loosely based from J.S. Bach's "Sleepers Awake".

If any of you are organists, please give me some feedback on if this piece would be realistic for a beginner (me) to play on a church pipe organ. Thanks!

I myself am not an organist, but I fell that the piece could do with more harmony.
The piece itself is not bad, but lacks a proper direction. It's mostly floating around without much difference in colour.
The organ is a very versatile instrument so I think a little more playing around with extended chords to add more colours and tones. However, since you say it was for beginners, any deviation beyond a 7th chord is risky.
Good potential and keep writing.
