Help converting piano score to 4 part vocal

• Nov 28, 2015 - 23:03

I have a hymn score entered for piano (i.e. in the mixer, only one part shows). It is in standard piano layout (treble and bass staves with text in between). Is there an easy way to convert this to a four part vocal score without re-entering everything? For example, for the soprano, I'm assuming it would involve copying the treble staff, entering it as a new voice, and then deleting the lower (alto) notes, and then repeating this for each voice. But I'm not even sure how to copy one staff and enter it as a new voice/part. Any advice would be appreciated ...

1. Keep your piano staves but add 4 new vocal staves for SATB.

2. Copy piano right hand (treble clef) to the Soprano staff, select whole Soprano staff and run the Explode tool to split the Alto notes to the staff below.

3. Copy piano left hand (Bass clef) to the Tenor staff and Explode again to extract the bass notes.

Thank you ... that did exactly what I was looking for (except that the voices in each staff weren't linked, so I had to select the staff and 'implode' first ... then everything worked as described).
