Problems with xml, midi and format in a score
I have done this song: http://musescore.com/score/2874
If I try to safe as xml, musescore crash. If I try to open then the created xml-file, I got the message: "unexpected end of file at line 84, colum1". Also on musescore.com the xml was not cerated. I tried different things, like to take out the multi-repeat of the parts. Dont helps. What could be the problem?
If I safe it as midi, then in the midi I can just hear the piano and the ocarina, but not the vibraphone and the harp. If I play the mscz in musescore, I can hear all 4 instruments, like on musescroe.com.
If I open the mscz-file, the format of the lines on the pages is always wrong. I go then to menu "format" into "edit style". There I choose "system" and put the "fix mesasure lenght". Then apply. Then take out "fix measure lenght" again, apply again, and everything is fine.
Something seems to be wrong with this file?! Can you please help me with this?
greetings
Patrick
(because I use german-version, I dont know exactly the right words for the menu-points in english)

I tried to open the MuseScore file from musescore.com with MuseScore 0.9.6.3 on windows. I can save as MusicXML (find file attached) and I can also open the resulting MusicXML. Same for MIDI. No crash.
Which operating system are you using? Which version of MuseScore?

The MusicXML file on MuseScore.com could not be created and is therefore also not available for download. I presume there has been a fix somehow in the latest 1.0 prerelease.

Yes, I can see this. But the differenc to my other scores is, that there the link MusikXML exist, just the file dont works. But in minimal 1 the link MusikXML dont exist.

I am working with Vista Home Basic and musescore 0.9.6.
I have now also made the download from musescore.com and try to safe this file as xml. It crash in the same way then my original.
The midi I could always do with the original score. But I just hear the piano and the ocarina. This is the same with the midi-file you attached. It is without vibraphone and harp, if I listen to it. Also the midi on musescore.com.
Then I opend the xml, that you attached. I can see, that the lines that I used to mark the patterns are not in the xml. Maybe this lines are the problem? I will try this without lines...
Did you saw, that also on musescore.com was not generated a xml-file, when I uploaded it?

Yes!
I take out the lines and now I can save it as XML.
So there is just the question of the midi...

Could you upgrade to MuseScore 0.9.6.3 ?
In reply to Could you upgrade to by [DELETED] 5
I have done the upgrade.
Now the problem with the pattern-lines is gone. I can save minimal 1 with lines as xml. In the xml then the lines are disappeared. But this is not a problem.
Also the problem with the format of the score is gone. It is now always ok.
But I have still the midi, that I cannot hear all 4 instruments. If you are listening to the midi, can you hear the harp and the vibraphone?
In Vista I had to install a aditional midi-player (Timidithy++) to install a better soundfont, because in Vista the normal midi-player and the soundfont is "all in one". But inside of musescore I can hear the sound of Timidithy++ with better soundfont and all 4 instruments. And in system-settings of Vista, also Timidithy is aktiv.

I listened to the midi file with Van Basco player and it was ok.

Ok, I am very impressed of Van Basco Player! And I can see now, that vibraphone and harp are there...maybe a little bit too silent.
Thank you for all this help!!

I have done some tests with timidity, Van Basco and musescore soundfonts under Vista. I used "minimal 1" for it. The result is:
-that I can hear a big difference between two soundfonts (TimGM6mb, Unison) inside of musescore
-but very little difference between the same soundfonts, if I play the midi directly in timidity-player or Van Basco Player
Why is this so? Just because of the settings of synthesizer in musescore? I have not changed them.
(I have make sure, that the soundfonts realy got changed. For this I changed there names, so that the synthesizer could not found them.)

As far as I know there is no way to use a soundfont with van Basco Karaoke. In all cases, if you don't hear a difference when you change a soundfont in a software, I guess it's a bug in this software and not in MuseScore ;)

Yes, but Van Basco is using then the settings of Vista, and this is timidity with one of the two soundfonts, that I have installed. But I think that I found the point, that makes me problems:
The default settings of the synthesizer in musescore are very "hight". So as I dont realised this, I made the vibraphone and the harp more silent in the score with p or pp. Of course then in the midi this instruments are very silent and the hole thing sounds very different.
