Hi, I would like to work on a new Croatian (hr_HR) translation of musescore. Please provide further instructions if this is possible.

Thanks

Hi SakiTC,

Great you are stepping up to translate MuseSCore to Croation. I just enabled the Croation language on http://musescore.org/hr and in the translation server at http://translate.musescore.org. So how to get started.

The easiest way to get familiar with the musescore.org translation flow is to start with translating the teaser page:

  • Go to http://musescore.org/en/node/1
  • You'll see a tab named 'translate'. Each translatable page on musescore.org has such a tab
  • Click on it and add your translation for the croation languages by following the 'add translation' link
  • Replace all the english text by your translation but leave the special markup in
  • finally, hit the submit button to save the page

You can now see your work at http://musescore.org/hr

Now, you're ready to translate the other pages, both menu and handbook pages. Just go to http://musescore.org/en, click on the page you wish to translate and hit the translate tab, etc.

For translating the software, you can head over to http://translate.musescore.org/ and translate the strings. Every 24 hours, the mscore-hr_HR.qm file will be compiled and made available for download.

If you have more question, feel free to ask.

Just one question, more may come later ;-)

I've seen, on other translated pages, that other parts of the home page (and other pages) are also translated, such as headings (Getting started, News, Follow...), buttons (Free Download / Version 1.0) and other parts of UI (Free music composition & notation software). I've searched around for that, but couldn't find where these could be translated. Thanks.

Check out the translate block in the right sidebar. You will see a link 'Website strings'. Search for the strings you wish to translate and submit the translation.

The only string you won't find using that translation interface is "Free music composition & notation software". Could you translate this and put it in a comment?

Thank you for the info. I thought that "Website strings" might be the right place, but unfortunately I tried it exactly with the "Free music composition & notation software".

Croatian translation for the string is "Slobodni program za skladanje i notaciju".
