How to add a rest in Grace Notes

• Jan 26, 2016 - 20:05

I have attached a image.
It's 4/4 common measure.
Kindly help me on adding a 8th note rest in the grace note.

That's not a grace note as far as I can tell (more context would help) - it's just an alternate note to be played perhaps on a second repeat, but in rhythm. As such, it should be entered as normal note in another voice, same with the rest, and the leading rests in that voice hidden.

Thank you. I tried to enter it as normal note it didn't work. As Ms/Mr.Kuwitt showed a example.mscz file ...it perfectly works as voices for that particular measure.Though I do not know what exactly if it is grace notes or voices ..being a newbie... I can tell you it's from the song She Wore a Yellow Ribbon a american folk song from casio song book. Attaching a image of the song. This particular note comes in the 19th measure.

It's a normal note *in another voice*. See the Handbook under "Voices".

So, voice 1 has the quarter, two eighths, and half - that adds up to four beats. Voice 2 has a half rest, quarter rest, eighth rest, eighth note - that also adds up to four beats. The half and quarter rest were then hidden, which is often a mistake and I think it was in this case because it made the rhythm unclear, looking like there are five beats in the measure.

EDIT: I see you figured it out, great!
