I would like to document each of the paletters

• Mar 4, 2011 - 04:47

I would like to create a documentation page showing a screen shot of each of the palettes and a description of each of the symbols and possibly links to Wikipedia.

I wanted to have a reference page of all these palettes and it could be a good place to document.

Any objections to me adding this page?

My day job is a technical writer / instructional designer so I am very comfortable documenting
software and writing training materials.

I have used a music typesetting program called MUP and wrote a tutorial. Now I am keen on Musescore
because of its MIDI keyboard input as well as rapid note entry with the keyboard.

Hi Charles,

For documenting MuseScore, we currently have the handbook and snippets. The handbook is under language control which means that as soon a page is added or changed, this shows in the translation system. The snippets are not covered by the translation system. This is just to give you some insight.

Could you show us in a comment what you have in mind for documenting the pallet? This will make a little easier to assess where we can place this.

What I started to do for my own reference is to annotate each palette in a document with the palette screen shot, what the symbol is and a brief descriptions. Maybe it is more appropriate that I add my notes (once completed) to the snippets section?

For example, on the clef palette, I started with

Treble
Treble clef 8va
Treble clef 15ma
Treble clef 8vb
French violin clef
Soprano clef
Mezzo-soprano clef
Alto clef
Tenor clef
Baritone clef (C clef)
Bass clef
Bass clef 8va
Bass clef 15ma
Bass clef 8vb
Bass clef 15mb
Baritone clef (F clef)
Subbass clef
Percussion clef
Tablature

I realise these are just documenting the tool tips but I like to have a printed visual guide to the program.
