Playback issue

• Mar 9, 2011 - 15:00

System: MuseScore 1.0, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit

I have a flute duet (attached) that is a work in progress. I ran into a weird playback issue last night that I can reproduce on a different system.

If I have the speaker icon enabled (so that the note sound plays when you place or click on notes) and if you click on a note so that the sound plays, then playback will work from that note. If it doesn't sound, playback will jump back to a repeat section two pages earlier. I suspect it has something to do with the repeat section from bar 9 to bar 32.

If fact, playback will jump to a spot exactly the same distance into the repeat at bar 9 as you are past the end of the repeat section at bar 32. Try clicking on a note in the system from bar 33 to 36. It will jump back to the same position at bar 9 to 12 and play from there. Clicking on a note in bar 41 will cause playback to jump back to bar 17.

If the speaker icon is disabled, playback will rarely start from the selected note, but usually will jump back to the repeat section.

I got a crash when trying to open this score in the 2.0 nightly build 3996, but not 4079 - maybe there's a corruption in the score.

I discovered another bug: Export XML of this score from any version (1.0 or 2.0 nightly build) and open it in either nightly builds (3996 and 4079) - the key signature in the bass clef of the piano is missing.

Using Mac 10.4.11.

David: I read that error report and thought that mine was different. It could be related, but the way I was able to work around it made me think it wasn't since I never turned off the play with repeats option.

Chen Lung reported issues with opening my score on some of the 2.0 releases and also issues exporting and importing through MusicXML. Are there tools available to check the integrity of the XML code, looking for score corruption? I'm doing some reading on Recordare.com about the XML format to get familiar with it but it's a very large and descriptive format.
