Quarter rest display

• May 24, 2014 - 07:27

Since I can't find an option to change this, I post this as a feature request - if already implemented, please be so kind as to give me a hint: Is it possible to display quarter rests in french style, i.e. looking as a mirrored eighth rest?

I found an image showing what I mean: http://www.ikonet.com/en/visualdictionary/images/us/rest-symbols-90640…

Thanks for your reply!

I'm pretty sure it is not yet possible, but as that rest ist part of SMuFL (as "restQuarterOld"), it should not be to difficult to implement, probably as a style option.

I realise that this is a historically accurate feature.

May I, however, implore people not to use it in a modern transcription on the grounds of clarity!

I am at present transcribing a book of 18th century English Organ Voluntaries which are scanned from an 18th century edition.

Having the old fashioned crotchet rest next to quaver rest leads to confusion to the modern reader, resulting in sight reading errors.

I agree it should be implemented for historically accurate editions, however.
