Translation to Simplified Chinese - 简体中文

• Apr 12, 2010 - 15:04

This is my translation to Simplified Chinese, and the file name should be mscore_zh_CN.ts, then with mscore -F, can load it default on simplified chinese environment.

btw: there are some "symbol name" which is hard to translate, under menu [Create->Symbols] dialog, currently I keep them not translate.

Added to the repository and the translation server.

The only thing missing in the repository is qt_zh_CN.ts. Lasconic, can you commit that file?

3 things:
1. http://musescore.org/zh-hans Does this page need to translate ?
2. instruments.xml need to translate ? I noticed there is a file "instruments_zh_TW.xml".
3. I tried windows nightly 2960, noticed the default application font size is 8pt, which seems a little small for most of asian languages, simplified chinese, traditional chinese, japanese, koeran etc,. because they are all use bitmap font in small size / low resolution, and the default font for simplified chinese doesn't has bitmap hint specific for 8pt, but has for 9pt., this is a difference besides western languages.
A better default size for them are 9pt.

see attached.

Take the instruments.xml file from the repository, translate the instrument names and save it as instruments_zh_CN.xml. Then upload it to this post.

Don't take the instruments_zh_TW.xml file as this one might be outdated compared to the English one.

I edit CMakeLists.txt, it doesn't work.
Then I just open nightly.exe, and change language from english to french, restart, in wizard dialog, instrument list is still english.
in preference dialog, there is an edit box to customize file path of instrument list, change it, restart, it work.

In the latest nightly builds MuseScore has a simplified new score wizard that limits the number of instruments to only the most common. Instruments that are less common are marked with the <extended>1</extended> tag. The new score wizard has a "show more" check box for displaying the less common instruments.

Deciding which instruments are "most common" certainly varies from culture to culture. Feel free to make adjustments based on your locale.

It seems a very good idea to have some locale based default settings. E.g. 9pt font settings for zh_CN.

However, I'm not sure whether MuseScore can coop with this. While we may think about a global solution to let locales overwrite the default MuseScore settings, perhaps we can do a quick experiment here how this can be implemented with minimal effort.

I made a mistake in the previous comment: apparently I selected Traditional Chinese, instead of the Simplified.

I checked the translation server again and search for Voices and found 2 strings. Indeed, one of them was translated as 声音 which I then changed into 声部.

The updates are committed to the svn and will be available in the next nightly.

I've complete translation of 10 easy steps tutorials. Due to a well known problem, china users can not connect to youtube to watch videos, so I need to move them to china video site, for example www.youku.com. But I don't know how to embed these subtitles into videos, anyone knows ?
