Cross Beaming Question

I just recently downloaded Musescore and am not fully finished with the manual, so forgive me if this is a basic issue, but when playing around with cross beams using a piano score, I noticed that, after inputting all the notes in the treble clef and then turning the certain notes into the bass clef for the cross beams, I noticed that the full measure rest in the bass clef was not replaced by a shorter rest. Is there a way to fix this, so that Musescore will switch the full measure rest for both treble and bass clef (instead of just the treble clef)?
