Plainchant
Hello. A basic question from a relative new-comer to all this.
I have pretty much got a grasp of the basics of Musescore, sufficient to produce several files of sheet music for a group that I run. But I am wanting to also represent plainchant. I don't want to use Gregorian notation but would like to use modern staves with dot/blob notes without stems. I would also like to delete most bar lines.
Is this possible with Musescore 2?
Thanks in anticipation.

Yes

I tend to work with beams and stems so it's easier to see rhythmic groupings, but it is a simple matter to remove beams and then make stems invisible with the Inspector, or mark it as stemless in stave properties.
This piece does use some stemless notation

MOst of these pieces were created with a pres-release version of MuseScore 2 and then imported to MuseScore 1.3 via MusicXML so they could be published on MuseScore.com
If you need any further help with this, don't hesitate to come back.

I would also like to write in plainchant style, and your music looks very good. How did you make the barlines into dashes, and did you have to enter a new time signature for every measure that has a different length? Right now I am stuck having to meticulously count out and figure out a meter for every bar phrase. It doesn't seem to be set up for plainchant unless I just don't know how to do it. How did you do it?

There are two valuable tools for you. Edit->Measures->Joins selected measures and the one above it that starts Split Selected Measures. When you need more beats, Join the current with the next one. When your done with the measure, select the next beat and splits the measures. This eliminates the need for counting.

Also see the Barlines palette to control the appearance of barlines, and the Inspector as well.

You can use the Display note values across measure boundaries in the Style->General... dialog box in conjunction with hiding barlines, but I think joining and splitting measures is the easiest route.

Joining and splitting also "Just works" (before generating parts) as opposed to displaying values accross hidden barlines is a somewhat more experimental part of the code.
