having trouble saving

Wonderful product. New to it but I know as a middle school choral educator this is going to be a fantastic resource. Are there limits to saving files with the free version? Have created a score but every time I try to save it freezes and then closes. Thanks!

I, too, am a music teacher, and I intend to use MuseScore in my classes as well. But anyway, regarding your issue, you need to first tell us which version of MuseScore and what OS you are using. I myself am using MuseScore 2.0.2 (unsupported 64-bit build) under Windows 8.1 and I have no problems saving my files.

Also, better make sure that you are dealing with MuseScore—you make reference to "the free version," but there is no other version of MuseScore but the full, free version. Ordinarily it wouldn't occur to me to ask, but there was some confusion earlier today: https://musescore.org/en/node/74011 ;-) Anyway, MuseScore 2.0.2 is the current version, and there should be no limits to saving files at all. This would be a pretty serious problem. Do you happen to have some kind of crash log that you could attach here as a TXT file?

Hi...yes using MuseScore 2.0.2 with Windows 8. Not sure how to locate the "crash log" but when I attempt to save/save as or export, it always says the program is not responding and then displays options to close the program, or wait for it to respond. I have uninstalled and re-downloaded several times and still the same problem. I did right click on the icon and used the "troubleshoot compatability" option and that did allow me to save and export as a PDF, but then I closed the program, reopened and the same error message came up.

Does this happen with *any* score? What if you just try to save the default "My First Score" that appears when you open MuseScore? What folder are you trying to save to How about if you try a different folder?

Reinstalling doesn't normally change anything, but sometimes following the instructions in the Handbook under for "Revert to factory settings" can fix certain installation problems. Never heard of one like this, though.
