What version of MuseScore, and what OS? Be sure to plugin and turn on (if appropriate) the keybaord *beofre* starting MuseScore.
I have followed steps to connect and launch MuseScore using the MAudio Keystation 49. It is not controlling the software. In preferences, I've selected the port for Keystation 49 as well. Thanks for the help.

You followed the instruction to connect the keybaord *before* starting MuseScore? You are in note entry mode? Can you describe *precisely* what you are doing? What settings do you see in Edit / Preferences / I/O? You shoud not have changed anything; the defaults should be correct. If you changed anything, try setting it back by following the isntructions for your particular OS under "Revert to factory settings" in the Handbook.
