downloading musescore issues

• Oct 26, 2015 - 20:03

I have an older version of Musescore. A friend of mine emailed me some Musescore songs but I cannot open them. My computer tells me that my version is too old. When I try to download 2.0.2 version, it will not complete the load. It says I must enter a password. When I enter a password that I have with Musescore, it says that my password is not correct but I know that my password is correct! Meanwhile, my friend who uses Muse, went through this same process and was not asked for the password. Why am I having this glitch? Needless to say, I'm very frustrated. Help anybody?

The download from the official page does not require any password: https://musescore.org/en/download
Which operating system?
Try changing browser. If you are using FireFox be sure to give the NoScript permission (if installed).
Don't uninstall the previous version, it is not necessary. You can ask for a * .xml file and open with eg. 1.3.

I've tried loading the newer version on 3 different operating systems, IE, Fox and Chrome. I get the same results each time, with the system asking for my password. OK on not uninstalling, but when you mention asking for the *.xml file and opening with 1.3, sorry, I'm confused. ??? Thank you!!
