What does the Panel plugin do?

Sorry. I didn't explain this clearly :)

You are quite right, in that the little box appear in the bottom left of the Musescore window.
Inside are the words 'Hello Panel' . I can click on it and drag it around the screen. I can see it has a 'close' x on the right of it. I can make it bigger, by dragging the bottom of it. If i type inside it, then it 'disappears'

So what purpose does it serve?
