Zero Time
In the most complex of pieces such as Dr. Frank Ticheli's "American Elegy" has a Trumpet 1 solo in Zero time. I have a song of my own that I want to compose with zero time in the program for a solo. I was just wanting to know if it is possible to create a zero time or if there is a plug in that will allow me to do that. Thanks in advance to the MuseScore team.

"Measures 118 and 119 are unmetered. That is, the conductor should not attempt to conduct the individual beats of the offstage solo. Rather, his or her job here is to serve as a cue-giver, conducting the downbeats of each bar. (The downbeat of measure 118 marks the release of the whole notes held in measure 117. The downbeat of measure 119 marks the release of clarinet 1, and the entrance of flute 1 and clarinet 3.) The conductor returns to regular metered time in measure 120."

So it would seem it is an extreme application of a piacere
I don't know what symbol he is using but it seems to me the best way to add it would be by PNG graphic.

So assuming that means it looks like a measure with too many beats in it, the way to do it in MuseScore is to count how many beats you actually want and set the actual time signature of the measure to that. If you do this using the right click Measure Properties dialog, then you won't see the time signature appear - it will just look like a measure with too many beats. Or, if you prefer to leave space for a time signature so you can then make it invisible and replace it with some sort of special symbol, then just add the time signature normally - 17/4 or whatever it turns out to be.

The symbol is a zero in the music. I play first trumpet part and I played the trumpet solo in Italy with Frank Ticheli conducting me and my school. This is the symbol, oh and dont mind the penciled in marks. i was writing the music for a friend of mine for altosax.

You can ge the zero in the symbol palette (press Z). If needed you can make some room before the rest with right click -> Properties -> Add trailing space. If the measure has more beats than the current one, right click the measure -> Measure properties -> Actual measure duration.
