How to make wider empty bar ?

• Sep 19, 2016 - 21:30

Hello,

I am new on this forum and new musescore user. And I have never used other software to make sheets.

I would like to know how to do the following thing :

In a sheet (a file), I have one line with notes. I chose 8/4 bars.

I would like the following line(s) to be empty (only the five lines), so that another person can exercise music writing.

But now :

1. The bars are narrow (because each one has only one breve rest). I would like the bar to be as large as the line.
2. The breve rest appears. I want it to disappear (when I print).

In summary, in a same file : some lines with notes and some lines with only the five lines and the G-clef.

[Excuse me if you see some errors. My mother language is French.]

Comments

You can use system breaks to set how many measures there are in a line
You can make the rests invisible, select one right-click, all similar, V

Thank you for your answers. It seems to be all right.

Two other questions :

- how to configurate / delete the page numbers ? Now I want no page number printed.
- how to increase the distance between the five lines (C-E-G-B-D) ? For young kids, it' not easy to draw notes when it's small.

To remove the page numbers, go to Style > General > Header, Footer and uncheck Footer.

For the staves lines, if you want to increase the size of the music globally (for your notes and for the empty staff), you can go to Layout > Page settings > Scale and increase it.

Alternative/additional comment:

1) Style -> General -> Header, Footer, Numbers -> In the middle section "Footer Text", untick "Odd/Even", and remove the meta tag Sp (eg) - highlighted on the image below. This allows to preserve the copyright display (if you have), or other footer notes.
delete the meta tag.jpg
2) Right-click on a measure -> Staff Properties -> Change the value of "Line distance", default 1,00esp. -> OK
