SATB arrangements

Looking for a shortcut !! Can Musescore automatically create a four part (SATB) arrangement if I enter the melody and chord progressions into the Soprano stave? If not does it have any 'arrangement' functionality?

Hi Shoichi, My hopes were raised - and sadly dashed. All 'explode' does is copy and paste all the notes and chords from a populated stave into each empty stave. I was hoping for instance that if it saw the note C under the chord Cmajor it would spread the notes of the triad ie. C, E and G into the vacant staves. I live in hope ....! I don't even know if Sibelius can do that - its quite a big call. But thanks for replying anyway.

It's trivial to write code to randomly scatter notes about on the staff. but getting to actual work as a SATB arrangement - with good voice leading, singable parts, idiomatic rhythms, etc - that's way way way way beyond something computer programs typically do. Making a very basic attempt at it is not uncommon for PhD theses in computer science or music theory, but expecting usable real world results is rather beyond technology right now.
