Brass and String entries in Instruments
For balance with the entry 'String Section' in 'Instruments...', should we rename 'Brass' to 'Brass Section'?
Alternatively, we could remove the word "Section"?

Yes - either would be ok
I've noticed that the word "Section" has been removed from the 'Brass' entry.
However, I can't see 'String Section' or 'Strings' - was the entry removed?

Yes, strings is gone though, but violins, violas, violoncellos, basses are there, along with the corresponding sound.
As there is a brass section sound, maybe we should add trumpets, trombones, tubas and remove brass (section)?

One notable piece of music uses Brass Band as a part in the conductor's score - The 1812 Overture, so I would be opposed to removing brass section. Go ahead and add the others. It's not like you're going to max out the instrument list.

Not having 'Brass section' in instruments.xml doesn't mean it goes away in the templates, look at the closed score SATB templates, the Soprano+Alto and Tenor+Bass 'instruments' don#t exist in instruments.xml either

I'm against removing either Strings or Brass.
See attached examples from published scores.

Strings have been removed from the list of instruments a long time ago

Yes, I just meant in principle - I should have phrased my post differently.
